Cheap Chicago hotels with public transportation available?

Posted on Apr 27, 2009 under Chicago | 8 Comments

d.an0nymouz asked:

Need help fast! I’m going to Chicago today and I found out that the hotel we reserved doesn’t have any public transportation around. We’re looking for a very cheap hotel (under $80 per night) and has bus stops or train stations around. Any suggestions?

Have you tried Priceline? Any hotel on the loop or North Michigan Ave will have public transportation within a block.

There are a few way out in the suburbs that you can take METRA to, but I don’t think you’d want that.
There are also a few surrounding the Rosemont station on the El’s Blue line that should be within your range.

Try Hosteling Internantional. It’s located right downtown and is smack in the middle of all sorts of public transportation. It’s no-frills accomodations that is popular with foreign kids traveling around the U.S. You can get a room for as low as $27 a night. Don’t let the price fool you. It’s clean and well-managed. There is even a kitchen where you can cook your own meals so you can save money there too.

Even better than Priceline is Hotwire.com. Check that site for the best rates.

At the airport there’s a hotel but probably expensive? O’hare is the terminal station for the city train.

Or, check here and you can search by location in the city:

This website is the best! It will give you up to date info on everything that’s happening in Chicago. It will even tell you where all the deals are so you may save a few bucks too.
